I am currently an independent researcher working in the field of data science. My principal interests are in 1) the gathering and processing of data in a distributed computing architecture, 2) Investigation of data reduction algorithms using geometric methods, 3) Machine learning and event detection in data streams. I was formerly a researcher and research manager at the University of Manchester, working on high performance computing, e-Science and numerical mathematics. I now work as an independent researcher pursuing projects involving analysis of data from water and electricity networks, radio telescopes, observations from helio and geospheric instruments and satellites.
