I am a purpose-driven Early Career Researcher with comprehensive insights and demanding skills. Well-trained and focused on translating lab findings in clinical environments. Effective communicator dedicated to maintaining growth for science and society.
During my doctoral days, I developed an immunodiagnostic toolkit for Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare autoimmune disorder that affects the peripheral nervous system. My toolkit has contributed to a real impact on society beyond academic high-impact factor publications at Annals of Indian Academy of Neurology, Journal of Peripheral Nervous System, Muscle & Nerve, and Antibiotics.
My current high-risk-high-reward endeavors involve cell-based regeneration of stroke-induced neural damage with hyperbaric oxygen adjunct and exploration of biomarkers predicting susceptibility to stroke at the community scale. My passion and commitment to making a difference have made me an active member in the scientific bodies across contents including the Royal Society of Biology, UK. My work has benefited thousands of people by initiating the immunodiagnostics of GBS first time in India and the largest preventive neurology project on stroke risk prediction in Asia.
My academic pathway is marked by a series of accolades that reflect my dedication to research and education:
1) International Recognition
In 2023, I achieved a significant milestone when I received the authentication of my Doctoral Degree from the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) in the United States. This recognition came with a Verified International Academic Qualifications badge from World Education Services (WES) in Toronto, affirming my qualifications on a global scale. I was honored with the Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholarship from the Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK during 2019-2020. This scholarship allowed me to collaborate with esteemed researchers abroad, further enriching my academic experience and expanding my professional network. I received prestigious prizes such as the Developing Country Award from the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), Best Oration Honor from ICGEB-SLIBTEC, Sri Lanka and Academic Wellness Ambassador credential from Jeevan Vigyan, Nepal among others. Furthermore, I served as an Immunopaedia Asian Ambassador from 2020 to 2021, promoting immunological research across Asia.
2) National Achievements
My accomplishments at the national level are equally mentionable. I participated in the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-University Grants Commission (CSIR-UGC) joint National Eligibility Test (NET), where I secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 70 in June 2015. My earlier attempts were also successful; I achieved ranks of 46 and 41 in the CSIR-UGC NET for lectureship positions in June and December 2014, respectively. These ranks were pivotal in establishing my career in academia.
I also excelled in other competitive examinations, including the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Eligibility Test JRF in 2015 and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), where I obtained AIRs of 258 and 585 in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
Other notable recognitions include the AWSAR Award for ‘Best PhD Stories’ by the Government of India on Science Day in 2020 and a Certificate of Achievement from the British Council that same year.
3) State-Level Recognition
At the state level, I earned accolades through the West Bengal CSC State Eligibility Test (WBCSC-SET), achieving lectureship positions in both 2013 and 2014. These accomplishments laid a strong foundation for my academic career.
4) Research Fellowships and Licensure
I held prestigious research fellowships, including Senior Research Fellow (SRF) at ICMR from 2018 to 2021 and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) before that. Additionally, I obtained a Clinical Researcher License from the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool, UK, which allowed me to engage in clinical research effectively.
5) Grants/Funds
My research endeavors have been supported by various grants, including a Research Contingency Grant from ICMR between 2016 and 2021, a Research Support Grant by DFID during 2019-2020 and receiving funding from SKAN Research Trust from 2022.
