Group: CWA working group 2.9: triple browser / reasoning

Overview

The Triple Browser & Reasoning (TBR) Working Group of the Concept Web Alliance confronts the major challenges associated with efficiently searching and 'creatively' reasoning with massive quantities of concept triples.

In the immediate time frame, members of the of the TBR will focus on (1) formulating precise definitions of how the Concept Web should in principle (and might in practice) be used and what these needs will demand of hardware resources, reasoning algorithms, and user interfaces, (2) forecasting the growth in the size and number of triple stores, (3) compiling an inventory of existing triple browsers and reasoning algorithms as a practical starting point for the CWA and in subsequent software R&D.

Future projects will explore fundamental issues in concept triple reasoning, using a wide palette of tools borrowed from the analysis of complex systems and scientific visualization.  One example would be the use of 'random energy models' borrowed from physics, where mock triple stores of randomly generated triples are created having defined statistical properties, and used as test-beds for evaluating the performance characteristics of various reasoning algorithms under controlled conditions.
